A 24-year-old Oceanside man alleged to be a member of the Posole Locos street gang made bail, two weeks after he was arrested on a half-dozen felony drug counts.
George Leno Orozco, who is reputed to go by the gang name “Stretch,” paid a $15,000 “premium charge” to Aladdin Bail Bonds to post a $150,000 bond on October 25, 2012, according to documents in his court file.
Orozco pleaded not guilty to six felony charges related to possession and sales of meth, in San Diego’s North County Superior Courthouse, at his arraignment October 11, 2012.
Prosecutor Terri Perez filed papers with the court trying to prevent release of the alleged gangster. She declared: “I believe that the defendant has access to large amounts of cash….from the sale of narcotics.”
The prosecutor stated in court papers that Orozco has a “strike prior” for possession of drugs for sale, that conviction dated August 2006. The 2006 case also had gang allegations attached, and was decided in juvenile court when Orozco was 17 years old, according to records.
Orozco was especially targeted in the recent gang sweep because of his alleged prodigious sales of methamphetamine, according to a public statement by Oceanside Police Captain Ray Bechler.
Oceanside Police held a press conference in October during which they displayed photos of captured and outstanding suspects from their special effort which targeted drug sales. Police said eleven persons were arrested and four persons are still fugitives, at the conclusion of the investigation.
On the day the suspects were to be arraigned in court, on October 11, Police Chief Frank McCoy stated, “Today is a very good day for us, here in the city of Oceanside.” By pursuing and capturing persons suspected of drug sales and other gang activity, the chief said police made “Oceanside a safer place for everybody.”
Chief McCoy said more than a pound of meth was seized, two stolen vehicles were recovered, and more than $8,000 cash was seized in the multi-agency effort.
George Leno Orozco pleads not guilty to all charges, and his next court date is January 7, 2013.
