A man suspected of hosting a party at his employer’s warehouse last month and charging minors a fee to enter and consume alcohol, was in court this morning.
Eduardo Hidalgo, 26, was charged with three misdemeanors today: failing to take steps to prevent minors from consuming alcohol at a party he was hosting, failing to discontinue a party he hosted after he learned minors had obtained alcohol, and sale or furnishing alcoholic beverage to a minor.
Sheriff’s deputies said it was after 3 a.m. that Sunday morning, on July 1, when they found Hidalgo in the 8000-square-foot warehouse on Linda Vista Drive in San Marcos.
Deputies reported they found three beer kegs and tables set up for “beer pong” games and “large quantities of beer and liquor containers.” Officers seized $886 in cash, which they described as “proceeds of the party,” they said Hidalgo charged an entrance fee at the door “for the consumption of alcohol by minors.”
Prosecutor Joseph Fusco stated that “about 100 persons” were found at the non-approved party last month.
Eduardo Hidalgo celebrated his 26th birthday last week. It is not known if he had a party, he declined opportunities to speak to the media.
Prosecutor Fusco and public defender Matthew Wechter thought they had a plea deal worked out, but Superior Court Judge Richard Mills refused the deal. Instead, Judge Mills demanded that Hidalgo be present for his next court date, set for September 5 in Department 1 of San Diego’s North County Superior Courthouse
