Child Abuser Gets 475-Years-To-Life in Prison

An Oceanside man convicted of abusing multiple girls under ten years of age over a period of years was sentenced to 475-years-to-life in prison, in court this morning.

Corazon Paulino Flores turned 70 years old while awaiting the jury’s verdict, the trial was last June, in San Diego’s North County Superior Courthouse.

Judge Runston Maino remarked that this was “the worst” case of its kind that he could recall, before he pronounced sentence.

Two of the abuse victims, now adult women, spoke to the court today. They both wept and quoted Biblical passages, calling on God as their witness and asking God to be forgiving because they could not. One woman could barely speak as she recalled trying to choose her quinciera dress as a 14-year-old, she did not know if she should wear a white dress.

Prosecutor Tracy Prior said of the convicted rapist, “He deserves every year, frankly, for what he did to these women.” The prosecutor said Flores threatened his victims with a knife and gun so they would not report the many abuses, and he transported them in his van with tinted windows to remote locations for some of the rapes.

Public defender Daniel Segura asked regarding the lengthy sentence, “Is this excessive and unnecessary?” And he remarked of the court’s decision to run the sentences consecutive for each of the 27 counts, “It simply is not needed.”

The judge noticed that Corazon Paulino Flores, now 70 years old, has 642 days good custody time credits, so far.
