Jesse Denome, owner of JD Machine Tech, a San Diego defense contractor, pleaded guilty today (May 16) to bribery and filing a false tax return. According to court documents, in 2004 and 2005 Denome provided an unnamed government official at the Fleet Readiness Center Southwest in Coronado a number of gifts, including more than $18,000 on the official's personal credit card. Another gift was a $2,472.86 bicycle. In return, Denome's company got more than $300,000 in contracts, says the U.S. attorney's office. Court documents indicate Denome didn't pay sufficient taxes related to the alleged bribery.The plea is subject to approval by U.S. District Court Judge Larry Burns, in whose court Denome is scheduled to appear August 8 for sentencing.
