Members of the Sheriff's Senior Volunteer Patrol will busy patrolling neighborhoods during the holidays checking on homes while people are out of town.
More than 400 volunteer officers will check for any unlocked doors, broken windows, and will hide newspapers and fliers from the sight of any would-be burglars. If they find anything suspicious the senior crime fighting team will phone a deputy to come and investigate.
The Sheriff's Department posted a form online for residents to sign up for the free service.
