San Diego home values rose 0.2% in June from May, according to Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller data released this morning (Aug. 30). That was less than the 1.1% average increase of the 20 major metro areas. San Diego County's values were down 5.3% from June a year ago. That was worse than the national 20-city decline of 4.5%. Nationally, home prices rose 3.6% in the second quarter, compared with a drop of 4.11% in the first quarter. David Blitzer, S&P economist, said current data produced "mixed signals" for the national housing picture. San Diego home values are down 38% from their peak in November of 2005.
