Limited Stops

Upon leaving work today it seemed like I had missed ...just missed the # 20 bus by a few "precious moments." That's bus language for #*@%% ! Oh well I wasn't in a terrible hurry and had a good day at work so I was in a relaxed mood but who really wants to wait at a bus stop for thirty minutes. So as the # 120 bus approached a few thoughts went through my mind...first the number is really similiar so I figured it had a similiar route and maybe it was an express . Granted I had never taken the # 120 but my destination was downtown today so when I saw the bus -proclaiming - its destination as Downtown with Limited Stops ...and the key for me was limited stops I gladly hopped on board . Well as we meandered from Kearny Mesa through I am not exactly sure ...well I do recall being in Linda Vista at one stop (of many ) my only thought was I was hoping not to get nauseous . Would refer to it as being car sick but of course I am on a bus ...but as I finally arrived at Fashion Valley Transit Center which was to be a quick stop before heading downtown I realized I was now in a cursed situation . You know those cursed situations ... things just get worse and no matter how you try to better the situation your doomed. I have heard some refer to it as doomed from the start and thats what this bus trip had certainly become. Doomed ! So as the bus stopped at Fashion Valley to unload some passengers the driver informed everyone that they needed to get off the bus and board the bus that was now parked directly behind us . At this point I am intelligent enough to know when to fold them ...well not really. In most situations I am just really dumb when it comes to knowing when to change or to call it quits on something. But today I had the savvy me as my partner. So I passed on the bus - a no brainer really and walked over to the Trolley . Actually I ran up a flight a stairs ( realizing near the top that I am a bit out of shape ) and worse the trolley was already there and I was likely to miss it . But I didnt miss it and was able to jump on . Yeah ! Again I wasn't in a terrible rush to get somewhere ...I didn't have an appointment to get to but you do develop an attitude towards just missing a bus or trolley . If your a sports fan its similiar to losing a really close game in the final seconds ...its gut wrenching . But losing in a blow out stings a little but its not a killer blow. So as I wrap up my bus trip ...lessons learned . Limited stops apparently doesn't really mean limited stops at least to me it just means fewer than a heck-of-a-lot-of-stops ...right ? What I also learned in addition to... that you should know where a bus is going before getting on or asking the driver for information ...besides that obvious stuff I had other floatsam enter my head and settle in since I had this extra amount of time... feelings and thoughts towards children, teen-agers, cars public transportation, downtown, cherry coke and Fridays . All to be covered at a later date. For now I am signing off with a very hungry belly in search of some yummy food downtown which there's just oodles of ...have a great week-end !
