MY HOOD.

Many people get different illusions of what it is like to live in southeast San Diego. Some people are afraid because it is the heart of the ghetto, some people are intrigued by the "FLAVA" of the neighborhood and some people dont care. I have been living in southeast san diego my entire life and I can honestly say I would not want to live anywhere else (maybe northpark HA!). My whole life I have moved around, I have lived in many places like Bermuda, Washington and practically every neighborhood that SD has to offer from logan to chula. The one consistant thing that I love about my HOOD is that it never lets me down. Growing up here honestly gave me the level head I needed to HANDLE BUSINESS and honestly want a better life. People might be afraid because of the gangs and the violence but put that aside and its a beautiful loving warm community where the people are real. Whats even better is the scenes going on beneath the surface. WHile in High School I LOVED!!! going to underground house shows which was mostly punk or ska or psychobilly. City beat swears they have good music tagged but the best music scene is going on right under there stuck up noses. All the punks psychos rastas gangstas indies all come together to celebrate our local bands and meet new people and its awesome. We have underground sewer shows (which due to street code i cant tell you where they are the babbies might be reading this) which are the illest of ill. Picture this its a dark night and your already excited and your climbing down the sewer vent and you cant see anything but you can hear everything!!!( I felt like a ninja turtle climbing down and preceeded with my friends to do the ninja turtle dance) the boom from the techno music is blasting and your holding your glow stick in front of you so you can see where you are going and all around you you are surrounded in some of SD's finest graffiti work. Up ahead you notice a red glare and you can hear the excitement pulsating off the walls as you get closer and closer to the show. You walk in and the sight is glorious Red lights flashing, glow sticks glowing, Mixer mixing and people dancing the night away. When the punk comes in a thick mosh pit begins where people let out there frustrations of the day and laugh and cheer over broken noses and bloody teeth. And everywhere you know everyone and all you feel is LOVE. LOVE is what I feel for my HOOD. LOVE is for what I feel for the people in my hood. SD has my heart always and forever.
