The news coverage of Hurricane Sandy wouldn't be so painful to watch if I didn't have relatives on the east coast. Aunt Peg is in Milford Maine and lives alone. Marrianne, her daughter, lives in Falls Church Virginia with her husband Matthew and two children. My heart breaks for them. I suppose they got wet, but do they still have a house?
As a child, Marianne didn't get much support from her mother and dad. She and her brother, Michael, had to live with my family for a year while her parents were off coping. So now I don't know if the lastest disaster to ruin her life has left her homeless or not. I may have to invite them to stay with me if the have nowhere else to go.
What a disaster has befallen the east coast. According to the news, the water raised fourteen feet high which is two feet higher than it's ever rose before. Cars are in trees and boats are on train tracks and two little boys who tried to escape their mother's car have simply floated away.
Two things have come to mind. First, I need to get an emergency kit prepared like the Mormons used to put together when I was a member. Second, I need to check on my daughter. She lives on Oahu and there has been a Tsunami warning due to a 7.7 earth quake. Thank God she lives on the third floor of her apartment building. Otherwise, I'd worry that she'll float away too.
My babies, where are they? I want them to come home.
