In the meantime, more than a hundred people showed up at the San Diego Humane Society today to adopt more than sixty dogs, puppies, birds, and rabbits that authorities seized March 27 from Le's home and two pet shops to which Le had ties. According to North County Times, a fourth site, Nadine's Puppies in Oceanside, was raided but no animals were found.
Several police officers were on hand to guard the event as tempers flaired in the hot summer heat. Potential adopters filled out applications and then waited in line for more than an hour to be taken to the back in groups to view the adoptable animals.
Adorable photographs of the pet shop puppies have been online all week. But since I'm always for the underdog, I made friends with a cute Pit Bull pup named Molokai, who is also looking for a home, although he is not one of those seized in the raid. He has a very calm demeanor, and if I was looking for another pet, he's the one I'd bring home. He's great.
