SEE SAN DIEGO -There really is a monkey in the tree PLUS A LOT MORE

Living in San Diego can really open one's eyes to seeing how beautiful, unusual, and simply funny, Clairemont, and in fact, all of San Diego really is.
About a year ago I was driving west on Clairmont Mesa Blvd. with a friend and my husband of 18 years, when my husband blurts out "hey there is an ape in that tree back there!" Needless to say my reaction to him was one that I will probably regret for a long time, as well as one that I now will never live down. I said to him "really, are you losing your mind, should I take you to the nearest hospital, or what?" I gave that poor man such a hard time over that dumb "monkey in the tree". So much in fact that he would ask just about every person (or so it seemed), "have you ever seen that ape in the tree on Clairmont Mesa by the entrance to the 52?" And EVERY time he would ask someone I would say "he really was not in his right mind that day, there is NO monkey in the tree." I gave him such a hard time that if he said, " hey did you see that rainbow?'' I would reply, "a yea sure, and there's a monkey in the tree too." I really only kept it up because, not one person had ever replied, yes I have seen the ape in the tree. This silly and funny banter went on between us for a little over a year, until I was forced to eat my own foot. You see every morning this past summer my husband and I would go walking with a friend of ours. We would go to different area's in San Diego, and walk, and I would take pictures. I was finally getting to see different areas of San Diego that I had never seen, (even though I live here). One day we are driving home from one of our walks, and we are coming off the 52 onto Clairmont Mesa when our friend says, "hey, have you guys ever seen the monkey in the tree?" Well let me tell you, I blurted out "NO, NO, NO!!!!, this can't be." I then told my friend the whole story from beginning to end, then promptly looked to my husband in the back seat to apologize. I noticed the look on his face was one of shear joy and contentment. I then said "I now owe you a public apology." So I guess this will be my public apology, I am truly sorry for not having believed you.
Anyone driving on west on Clairmont Mesa Blvd right past Luna, look up in the palm tree, and you too can see a "monkey in the tree".
