Goodnight Sweet Dreams

I stood on the front porch. Aggressively acclimatizing myself to the rain and cold winds. Building tolerances for feelings and weather changes. Waiting for the one.

A train sounded off indicative of the call that still needed to be made. I waited till 9:30pm to press the Skype call button. 9:30 is date time and everyone knows it. Half an hour before bed to fill my head with that voice. The same one that fills the dreams and calls out to me during sleep.

Tonight's date was short and I tumbled carelessly in bed. Hitting the mattress with all my dead weight. Slamming my eye shuts as I lay still and wait. I always twitch before I crash into subconscious land.

She always knows when I am beating on the door of rests house. She always knows when I cannot go any further. She lets me tangle my tentacles around her, like an over-sized belt.

Blankets and pillows be damned in this bed lovers lay in. I would just as soon throw them out the back windows should they block me once more. From my true living pillow. A soft servant of love and an ocean full of dedication.

As long as the daylight is shining through the clouds, I will wait for date time. When it comes and passes, so shall I, into another memory of her. With her tank-top as my protest mask and I march into the world of sleep. Goodnight and sweet dreams.
