Sept. 25 Larry Goldings Trio
Goldings brings his organ group to Athenaeum Jazz at TSRI, featuring guitarist Peter Bernstein and drummer Bill Stewart. Goldings is a major talent who has worked with Jack DeJohnette and John Scofield among many others. Concert begins at 8 pm. Tickets are $35 for general public and $30 for Athenaeum members.
Sept 26 Kornel Fekete-Kovacs
The Hungarian flugelhorn master returns to Dizzy's in Pacific Beach to lead a band featuring LA pianist Mike Garson, bassist Bob Magnusson, flutist Lori Bell and drummer Duncan Moore. Concert starts at 8 pm. 4275 Mission Bay Dr. $15
Sept. 27 Lori Bell Trio
Flute virtuoso Bell continues her Friday evening series at the La Jolla Community Center with guitarist Peter Sprague and bassist Bob Magnusson. $20 non-members, $15 for members and free valet parking.
Sept. 29 Jeff Hamilton Trio
The much lauded LA drummer performs an early concert as a benefit for KSDS Jazz 88 in the Saville Theatre at San Diego City College. This concert is being produced by flute wizard Holly Hofmann's Keynote Jazz Company. Joining Hamilton will be Tamir Hendelman on piano with Christoph Luty on bass. The concert begins at 5 pm. Tickets are $25 + $2.37 handling fee. All proceeds go to Jazz 88.
