ILYA reunites after two-year hiatus

Post-rock trip-hop outfit returns with new album and lineup.

ILYA will be playing their first live show in over two years on Friday, November 8 at Soda Bar (3615 El Cajon Boulevard, City Heights).

The band - which has garnered comparisons to Portishead, Bjork, Sigur Rós, and Black Heart Procession (I’ll go ahead and throw in Godspeed You! Black Emperor) – is finalizing mixes on their third full-length album and will be touring on it throughout 2014.

ILYA’s Soda Bar appearance will be the first with new members Carrie Feller (Tactical Fever, Street of Little Girls) on Rhodes/backup vocals and guitarist Demetrius Antuña (Goodbye Blue Monday, ANA/), who has been playing alongside ILYA founding guitarist Matthew Baker in the 9-piece orchestral post-rock outfit KATA for the past few years.

"I've been a fan and supporter of ILYA for over 10 years,” Antuña posted to the band’s Facebook page about a month after being added to the lineup.

“I've had the extraordinary opportunity of playing some local shows and sitting in as their additional guitarist on tour, and now I am more than honored to have been invited to be a full-time contributing member of the band.”

Look for more in an upcoming Musician Interview.
