Moonshake is back from space

Bouncy tech house and future funky grooves return to San Diego after a year in the void.

It’s been a year and some change since Kadan closed their Czech castle doors up in BeHe to make way for meatball and pop bar Soda and Swine.

The closure marked the end to over a decade of drunken afternoon chess games and a handful of some of San Diego’s best electronic dance nights.

Among them was Moonshake, a booming bimonthly of bouncy tech house and groovy future disco with resident starship DJs Lee Reynolds, Mark Quark, and Dazzla.

The always-SRO party never ended up settling at a new venue (something about Kadan’s medieval dungeon vibe was perfect for Moonshake’s outer space swagger), so now, a few off-the-radar desert stompers and Tijuana costume parties later, Moonshake is back for a one-off San Diego event at El Dorado (1030 Broadway - Downtown) on Saturday, October 12.

See what’s fallen into the Moonshake boys’ record bins over the past year and take ½ off Dorado’s craft cocktails until 10 p.m.
