"Why is San Diego Music TV being targeted again?"
Megan Erickson reports that the offices of San Diego Music TV were robbed again, this time during the Memorial Day weekend. "Yes, we have security and cameras," she emails, "but these degenerates were able to outwit the system by smashing and grabbing before the police arrived."
This is the second robbery of the Poway studio-office complex in under two months.
The first heist took place during the weekend of March 30. Thieves forced their way into the music video production company and made off with computer equipment, cameras, and hard drives containing unedited footage of local bands taped in performance for playback on SD Music TV's own web site and on their YouTube channel.
Erickson, 27, is the founder and owner of SD Music TV. A non-practicing lawyer, Erickson says that she has lived here since the age of seven. Last October, she opened up her music video shop with underwriting from private investors. SD Music TV films bands and hosts their videos on a Youtube channel and directly to their own web site. The service is provided free of charge to musicians.
"We are really beyond words at this point," Erickson writes. She says SDMTV will relocate to an unknown location and will discontinue studio sessions until further notice. Of her staff, she says this:
"We are numb at this point."
An additional cash reward is being offered in the amount of $500 for any information. But thus far, no one has yet claimed the initial reward stemming from the first burglary. Erickson told the Reader that the Poway sheriff's department had identified some suspects early on, but the leads fizzled and there have been no arrests made in the case.
"As of right now," she said of the first burglary, "there has been no recovery of any of the items that were taken. But the investigation is still ongoing and we hope that there will eventually be some closure with this case."
