CutMod chops veggies, video for chance to tour as Psy's personal chef

USCD grad mixes music, projection mapping, and culinary prowess to woo South Korean pop star.

“I have applied to be Psy's chef because I love mixing cultures through food and media,” says Will ‘CutMod’ Michaelsen, a 2011 UCSD graduate and projection mapping artist who moved to Los Angeles to work in the music industry.

“Not only do I really enjoy Psy's enthusiasm and persona, but I also feel that Psy has bridged a major cultural gap with the global success of his ‘Gangnam Style’ video and that now is the perfect time to collaborate through food and other cultural media. I intend to infuse my personal cultural experiences from around the world into the Bibigo recipes.”

For his entry, CutMod made a live remix of the music and video for Psy's ‘Bibigo Dance.’

His entry was shot in a single take while cooking veggie mixed rice in a kitchen illuminated by projection-mapped visuals on the cupboards.

The top three finalists will now be announced on Friday, May 24 at PsygoBibigo.com.

Check out CutMod's work with MapJacks, a recently-formed multimedia art collective and projection mapping crew.
