We were bombing our way down the freeway when Ride of the Valkyries began to play. My eight-year-old daughter looked up from the game she was playing on my phone, “What’s this one about daddy?”
“Warrior princess riding across the sky collecting the souls of dead heroes.”
“Oh, cool.”
I turned it up.
The Valkyries arrived and sang their parts and things were calm for a few minutes. When we finally got to the big part with all the brass, my daughter yelled over the cacophony, “TRIANGLE!”.
It took me a moment but sure enough, there it was. High above the orchestra someone in the percussion section was beating the hell out of a triangle.
The triangle is an instrument I don’t associate with or pay much attention to but perhaps I’ve been missing something.
Long live the triangle.
The triangle comes in around 3:50.
