Two nascent newcomers will be headlining the bill at Soda Bar (3615 El Cajon Boulevard - City Heights) on Friday, September 6.
Diatribes will be making their debut following the release of their first single, “Hand Book for the Blind,” earlier this month.

The project is the first for singer Max Mannion, whose demeanor dances between ferocious and vulnerable on the smoldering single.
“I have been working on some tunes for the last year-and-a-half and think my balls are finally big enough to release the first of many to come,” Mannion writes in an email.
You may recognize the vintage patches and beats of Chaos Studios engineer Christopher Hoffee beneath Mannion’s Bjork-ly declarations.
The sound is a staple of bandmates Sean Davenport and Greg Theilmann’s last two albums with Hills Like Elephants, which found their distinctive “Motown with drum machines” niche with Hoffee’s help.
Bassist Chad Pittman of alt-country outfit River City completes the quartet.
Fellow River City rambler Andrew Armerding joins Theilmann and singer Ferran Nicolls for their first performance as Champ.
The trio has a handful of recordings hidden away, but for now you can get an idea of what they're up to with the video for “Real Cool Kids” (download), a downtempo, bass-driven number made infectious by chimerical synth and Nicolls’ seductively spooky delivery of hipster-critical lyrics such as "real cool kids never get sick, they keep it locked down in the hall."
