V Elements festival integrates alternative power and wellness at Liberty Station

The nation's largest solar sound and stage setup comes to Point Loma

Alternative comedy was popularized in the ‘80s. Alternative music broke through in the ‘90s. Alternative media found a new outlet via the user-generated information boom of the ‘00s.

Now, local pioneers of alternative power and wellness are coming together to pave the way for eco-friendly concerts with San Diego’s first completely solar-powered music and yoga festival.

A joint production of Indie Yoga in Ocean Beach, Alternative Power Productions solar sound and staging specialists, and talent management agency The Madero Group, V Elements (“five elements”) will feature a lineup of local and touring electronic, funk, hip hop, soul, and world musicians on the largest solar-powered stage in the nation.

A series of yoga flows corresponding to the five elements of space, air, water, fire, and earth will be accompanied by musical performers and led by local instructors Charity Rahmer (Indie Yoga), Luke Wientzen (Bird Rock Yoga, Indie Yoga), Nikki Krause (CorePower Yoga), John Jay Verhagen (Indie Yoga), Carolina Moreira (Pilgrimage of the Heart), and internationally-renowned yogi Pradeep Teotia.

The all-star musical lineup includes Living Legends honchos The Grouch & Eligh, Zion I, Govinda, David Starfire, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Sir Charles, Mikey Lion, Dink, local chilldub beacon Michael Divinity, Dub Sutra, and DJ Lakshmi.

Download a free mixtape here.

V Elements will be held on Saturday, April 6 at Liberty Station (Point Loma).

Tickets are $20 - 40.
