Heavy-hitting electronic dance night Ocean Beats will be shaking up North County tonight with an all-star lineup featuring the first San Diego performance of Michal Menert, the co-producer of Pretty Lights' debut 2006 album, Taking Up Your Precious Time.
Menert's smooth boulevard bass jams are rooted in effortless hip hop swag that is guaranteed to keep the Belly Up (Solana Beach) rumbling 'til bar close.
Point Loma-born Govinda (aka Austin-based producer Shane Madden) was recently taken under the wing of Ocean Beats promoters and management company The Madero Group.
Released last week via Bandcamp, Govinda's latest album, Resonance, is a chilled out, liquid gypsy ayahuasca vision loaded with bouncey world bass, next level glitch ticks, live violin leads, and sultry (if not heady) vocals by Rosey, Krystyn Pixton, and Irina Mikhailova.
"Resonance explores decadent and mysterious worlds of sound," writes Madden.
"The gritty basses and twisted wobbles will take you deeper down the rabbit hole. The soaring, transcendent melodies will guide you into a divine dance. Your ears will be enchanted by the whimsical music boxes and hammering dulcimers. Your mind will be enhanced by the grinding basses and serpentine oscillators."
Press play. Do it now.
Opening up the night is Detroit deep house and minimal techno hustler SuperDre (also on the Madero Group roster).

"Releasing her funky, minimal techno sound on her boutique label, Bass Candi, SuperDre thrives in the live environment delivering most of her sets on turntables along with midi controllers, an art becoming more and more rare among Producers/DJs."
