Then you notice the genre listed as “Rolling down a highway in the desert-drunk-stoned-fuck you-murder yourself-rock, that kinda thing” and you see that the band is fronted by Mike Turi of garage rock outfit The Old In Out and psychedelic specters Trap Gold.
And then you play the YouTube clip of their debut gig at Soda Bar and you find your impulsive fondness for the band justified by the haunting interplay of Turi’s and Priscilla Castro’s vocals (maybe it reminds you of The B-52s or Jefferson Airplane), Old In Out guitarist Ryan Bohan's droning riffs, the churning rhythm section of Dark Thirty and Jeans Wilder (that's bassist Taejon Romanik and Old In Out drummer Marco Piro), and the Wets’ own dedicated projection artist, John Kelley.

“We’re a party psychedelic rock band,” says Piro. “We’re trying to make it an experience. Anyone can start a band and have five people on stage playing their hearts out, but we wanted to add something more for the concertgoer.”
Just five months after their first appearance, Wild Wild Wets have already shared the stage with acts such as Thee Oh Sees, Growlers, Night Beats, Cosmonauts, Barbarian, Schitzophonics, and MC5’s Wayne Kramer.
“It’s Mikey’s vision,” Piro says of the band. “It’s his world that he’s created. He’s very Andy Warhol-esqe, but not all weird in the bad way. He’s a very creative person, a doer, an artist, and one of the best painters I’ve ever met. He’s a multifaceted individual. So he’s like the good parts of Warhol, but not a pervert or any of that shit.”
The band expects to have a 7-inch pressed around January, but in the meantime you can stream a few tracks from their Bandcamp or get wet & wild live on Halloween at the Soda Bar, where the band will be playing Blondie covers alongside local outfits covering NOFX, Devin the Dude, and Wu-Tang.
