San Diego Mets 2013

One of the best events of the year is this Saturday at 10:00 am on the campus of Point Loma Nazarene University.

The event is the San Diego Chapter of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, also known as the San Diego Mets.

This is a singing competition. It is not an audition. No one will be cast for an opera. There are no callbacks. However, there is another round.

The top three singers, as determined by the panel of judges, will move through to the Los Angeles Regional Round. The one winner of the Los Angeles Region will go to New York.

Why is this one of the best events of the year? We never know what we're going to get. There will be some tremendous singers, there will be some not so tremendous singers, and there will be singers who are bad.

A word to the wise, this is a long day. It will go for at least five hours, including a lunch break.

The program is usually set to showcase the stronger singers after lunch but there is always a few surprises before lunch.

Saturday October, 13th at 10:00 am at the Cooper Music Center on the campus of PLNU.
