Sounding perhaps like a modern-day Joy Division from Tijuana, Dancing Strangers released a video for a song titled The Politician on October 1st.
Directed by César Ortiz, the video was inspired by the BBC television show Top of the Pops, which featured live performances of each week's top selling bands. Although the show ran for decades Dancing Strangers zeroed in on the 80's and had no doubt that they wanted to film at La Mi-Ja de la Mezcalera, currently one of the most popular bars in Tijuana (with a light-up dance floor and an array of Mezcal drinks).

"We like to think of the song as some type of a rebellious anthem," says the singer/keyboardist, who goes by the name Astronauta Jackson.
Astronauta also me told me that the song is about corrupt politicians from all time periods, hence the hook "Power, sex, corruption," which is also the title of the E.P. the song is on. Power.Sex.Corruption is the band's 2nd E.P. which came out a year ago - a 3rd is planned to be released late October or early November, titled Lost in Lust.
Regarding the video, Mr. Astronauta Jackson says, "We wanted to show that we had a sense of humor and to show the audience that our live set was fun and not dark and boring."
