For about a year-and-a-half, some of San Diego’s most innovative electronic music producers have been getting together for regular under-the-radar hob nobs at the Kava Lounge to share formative sounds with fellow musicians.
“We meet once a month as a group called Family Matters,” writes Kava Lounge manager and musician Mateo Silva. “Producers only - sharing new tracks, testing levels on a proper sound system, getting feedback from peers, forming new collaborations, etc.”
Tonight, Family Matters hosts a rare public session presented by Kill Quanti featuring headliners Sonnymoon - a Boston quartet that interweaves angelic vocals with chill synths and ambient, shuffling beats.
San Francisco producer B. Lewis brings experimental hip hop and garage-informed beats:
