Here's something you might be interested in.
Sitting there listening to Beethoven’s 7thSymphony on Sunday I came to the conclusion that I could listen to only Beethoven’s 3rd, 5th, and 7th symphonies for the rest of my life and die a happy death.
That is not to say I have no use for the 6th, 8th, and 9th. Of those three, the 6th is the one I associate with the most. The 1st, 2nd, and 4th are marginal pieces for me.
The 3rd, 5th, and 7th feel almost as if they are personal friends. It is a strange phenomenon that I only experience with Beethoven. Whenever I listen to those particular symphonies I get the impression that I’m having a discussion with a living, breathing, person.
Please listen to these three symphonies and tell me I’m not crazy.
