This is the inventive tour of six guys playing unplugged solo work, independent of their full bands — a great "folky emo extravaganza" as Matt Pryor of the Get Up Kids called it in jest.
The night started with a short set by singer/songwriter/guitarist Evan Weiss (Into It. Over It.). Ace Enders of the Early November followed, playing "Ever So Sweet" and "I Want to Hear You Sad." Third up was Chris Conley (Saves the Day). (I wasn’t a fan of Conley’s forced whiny vocals.) Anthony Raneri of Bayside played fourth, performing "Duality" and "Summer Day When She's Around." Also, a left-field cover of Kermmit's "The Rainbow Connection" with Ace Enders and Matt Pryor (a sing-along was not started). Matt Pryor played “Better Half” and “I’ll Catch You” as well as song from his solo career, “Polish the Broken Glass.” I felt his voice was too strained, which fits Get Up Kids, but not this acoustic night.
The highlight and headliner was Dustin Kensrue (Thrice) playing “Pistol‚” “Knew You Before‚” “Artist in the Ambulance‚” “Anthology‚” a cover of “Hospital Beds” by Cold War Kids, and Leonard Cohen’s “Suzanne.” Kensrue finished the night off with a brand new song, “Of Crows and Crowns.” There was no encore.
