Last week, Daytrotter (the website for guest sessions at Horseshack analog studio in Rock Island, Illinois) published a set by local tropical pop quintet Cuckoo Chaos (ex- Vision of a Dying World, the Paddle Boat) engineered by Brian Thorn at The Magic Shop in New York City during CMJ week, 2011.
The recordings include tracks “Slut Barf,” “Jesus Flag American Fish,” “Just Ride It,” and “Possessed by a Corpse” from their 7-song Woman EP released last September on Lefse Records.
Note that a Daytrotter membership is now required (not sure how long that’s been going on) though there’s a free 7 day trial and, in all fairness, the modest fee of $2 includes about 70 new tracks a week and access to the nearly 2000-strong library of previous sessions from artists such as Andrew Bird, Bela Fleck, Bon Iver (who just won a Grammy or something), Cold War Kids, Dr. Dog, Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend, Wire, etc. etc. etc.
Embrace the Chaos this Saturday, the 18th, at the Moniker Warehouse (705 16th Ave – East Village).
