It’s a solid weekend for classical music. While there aren’t too many options, the concerts that are out there are top shelf.
The Barber of Seville completes the 2012 season at San Diego Opera with performances at the Civic Theater on Friday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm. So far the reception of this production has been good.
The San Diego Symphony has a concert called Dedicated to Doomed Romance. Music from West Side Story and Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet are the book ends of this concert with The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto in between. The concert is Saturday at 8:00 pm.
Sunday at 2:00 pm, Paris resident and San Diego native Zachary Deak performs with violinist Virginie d’Avezac de Castera at the La Jolla Library. Pieces by Prokofiev and Henri Vieuxtemps are on the program.
