The San Diego based independent record label, 31G, is giving away 5 MP3s in exchange for sharing 31G from your Facebook account.
"Who doesn't like free stuff, especially good free stuff," says Justin Pearson, founder of 31G.

It is well known that the digital age has permanently altered the way (large and independent) record labels function - if they survived that is. We live in a world where Radiohead, which is about as big as band can get, and Retox, a hardcore band that Pearson sings for, both have offered downloadable releases online at no cost. There are of course other musical groups who have done the same.
On one hand, free downloads may have a devaluing effect on the way western society perceives recordings, on the other hand, perhaps only musicians who are compelled to create will continue.
"We were just wanting to share some stuff with potential new fans of the label and wanted to keep things relevant in the strange and ever changing world of the music industry. It's also a gorilla marketing tactic, since we make no money by running the label. Getting attention with free social media avenues is the best way to stay alive these days," says Pearson over a Facebook message.
The 5 songs you get for sharing 31G are:
"Headdress" by Geronimo, a noisey powerhouse featuring boutique effects by Trogotronic, built by band member Nelson.
"Damn Bloodsuckers" by Jaks, from Here Lies the Body of Jaks, an older post-hardcore release on the label.
"The Kathleen Turner Diaries" by San Diego based Secret Fun Club, from their Duo LP. The band features Sal Gallegos of 31G.
"Jahiliya" a song written by Warsawwasraw, from a Leg Lifters remix release. Leg Lifters is Nathan Joyner and Pearson, who both were members of All Leather before the band broke up. The track sounds like a post techno deconstruction of hardcore. Warsawwasraw hails from France.
"Ten Pounds of Shit in a Five Pound Bag," a newer track by Retox.
