It’s a big night for odd and awesome music in San Diego, kiddos!
Yesterday I told you about the cinematic art metal 9-piece Kata playing one of my favorite monthlies, Makeout Weird, at the Whistle Stop tonight, where they’ll be joining guest curators and Moonshake DJs Dr. Indulgent and Bob Dazzla and artists ARPed and Tasty Reign.
Across town, the Kava Lounge will be celebrating the anniversary of Liquid Geometry Presents (formerly Galactic Reign), which has been cultivating San Diego’s experimental future beat scene with gusto and moxie for the past year by curating regular events and bringing out-of-town luminaries such as Dibiase, Take, Teebs, NguzuNguzu, Mono/Poly, Austin Peralta, Lorn, and Samiyam, to name a few.
Tonight’s extravaganza features Alpha Pup organic genre-bender Free the Robots, local rad beat scientist HM.T DM.T (Sludge Butt’s other cheek, Sleeve, is currently touring South East Asia), Nino Seneris & Mastah Syphe, Griefshare, Mateo, and Alpha Method.
Vegetarian appetizers and drink specials until 10.
Doors @ 8. $5 before 9. $7 after.
Uptown, the Amsterdam-based duo Teengirl Fantasy will be blasting live, dance-friendly beats at Soda Bar with ethereal, hoppy L.A. beat-maker Total Freedom and one of my favorite local live beat outfits, Illuminauts.
Doors 8:30 - Tickets $10

Club Purple returns to The Office in North Park with San Francisco Gold Sweat dance party maestro Loco, panty-dropper extraordinaire Mawkus (Sweet Cheeks / Jazz 88.3 FM), Hustlehoff, and your host, Miss Lady D.
I don’t recommend you miss any of these events. However, yours truly will be at the fabulous Ruby Room tonight for a post-weird free-punk blowout with Seattle’s Monogamy Party, Stripper Pussy (L.A.), and local oddities Batwings and Vaginals.
Five bones.

Batwings will also be at La Bodega Aragon (Avenida Miguel Negrete between Calles 8 and 9) in Tijuana with ReTox and Mexicali wild children Maniqui Lazer and Noise Beat Propaganda this Saturday.
