Local Singer Competing in TV Talent Show

LOCAL SINGER COMPETING MAY 30 ON TV TALENT SHOW

On May 30, singer Amber Ojeda will appear on the new Bravo TV show Platinum Hit, which is co-hosted by fellow famous former neighbor Jewel. The program will feature twelve musicians living together who compete in songwriting challenges that require them to write lyrics and perform songs, in genres ranging from dance tracks to love ballads.

The winner will receive a $100,000 cash prize, a publishing deal with Sony, and a recording contract with RCA/Jive.

The show has already been filmed in advance: contestants were eliminated by the show’s judging panel (which includes Donna Summer, Jermaine Dupri, and former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi), rather than viewer voting.

As such, Ojeda is contractually forbidden from discussing the show with the Reader.

Ojeda, a former San Diego Gulls Girl, played a recurring role in the locally-shot TV show Veronica Mars. “I originally auditioned for the part of Cathy when the show was in its pilot stage,” she tells me. “It’s actually not as crazy and thrilling as everyone thinks. Most of the time, you’re in your trailer waiting for your scene.”

The 27 year-old singer currently fronts a band bearing her name. “Galactic Love,” the first single from her upcoming album Space Bar Love, will be available online this week.
