"The whole idea behind the Blackout Blowout basically came from my Thursdays at The Shakedown," guitarist Jason 'Blackie' Blackmore (Otro, Rats Eyes, Sirhan Sirhan) writes via email.
The usually free weekly event sees DJ Cap'n Blackie playing '80s hardcore interspersed with classic rock and metal and showcases two live, local bands.
"I thought it would be rad to do a blowout show featuring some of the best local rock bands around. Usually you can catch one or two of these bands doing a local show or opening for a touring act. But I thought it would be awesome to get a hand full of them to do one big ass bad ass all day rock-n-roll BBQ show! And make it cheap."
The $5 show starts at 2 p.m. at The Shakedown and features local rockers Archons, The Widows, Crime Desire, Ghetto Blaster, Otro, The Lumps, The Tuggs, Secret Fun Club, and The Marsupials.
Otro (formerly known as Kuntz) & The Marsupials (Jimmy Armbrust from Rats Eyes) are recording this month to release a split 7" on Ratcore Records.
