Find Your Voice Proceeds Going to Local School Programs

"I'm working with James R. Spring from Lloyd Pest Control on a few VERY cool projects involving local music and local schools," says Cathryn Beeks.

"Each month, Lloyd Pest Control and I are heading out to an area school to throw a little rock concert and LPC presents the art departments with a check for $2500! Last Friday we had our first event at La Jolla High and it was a huge success. Big thanks to NeverReady and the Filthy Violets for rocking us."

NeverReady, a ska-centered band made up of students who won the La Jolla High Battle of the Bands, played their original tune for the crowd. The band, founded at La Jolla High School in early 2010, features drummer Declan Halloran (son of longtime local radio DJ Michael Halloran).

As the program winds through four San Diego Unified schools, Lloyd Pest Control plans to donate a total of $10,000 to their visual and performing arts departments. The next event will be July 8 at Farb Middle School.

Beeks says James Spring of Lloyd's has purchased "3500 Find your Voice Volume 1 CDs that we're selling for five bucks, all of which goes to local school's arts departments."
