Retox Return to The Yard

UPDATE - 8/1/11 - Retox will NOT be able to play this show. The other three bands are still confirmed.

On June 24, the first episode of “Young, Broke, and Beautiful,” an “off the beaten path” travel show, aired on the Independent Film Channel.

Host and San Diego native Broke-Ass Stuart and Retox frontman Justin Pearson discussed San Diego punk over burritos at Pokez, a spitting distance from where the Locust played to a full house years ago, before heading down the street for “some motherfrickin’ hardcore” at The Yard.

The outdoor venue in East Village was established by a handful of pedicab riders on a mission “to redefine and uplift the San Diego music scene by becoming the best live performance venue in the city.”

Retox’s Ugly Animals LP is due August 23 on Ipecac Records with a cover designed by Brandon McMinn, who did the art on Pearson’s book, From the Graveyard of the Arousal Industry.

Pearson is currently on tour in Europe with Blue Note, a re-formation of Swing Kids featuring Nathan Joyner (Hot Nerds, All Leather, Some Girls) on guitar. The group changed their name in memory of late founding guitarist Eric Allen.

Retox returns to The Yard on Friday, August 5 with Hauksness, Diatribe, and Gloomsday.

Four bones, bee why oh bee.

Show starts at 4 p.m.!

The Yard - 39 17th Street – East Village
