"We're supporting our annual U19 Battle of the Bands," says Beth Vinas of Studio CCMA (who also plays with Groove Kitty).
Bands and musicians with players UNDER 19 years old have been asked to submit a LIVE video, link or webiste of them playing. No loops or tracks: just a live performance. Twenty of these groups/players will be performing at the two semi-final dates:
The first semi-finals is at the Sheraton Four Points San Diego/Citrus Club on Sunday, July 31, at 5pm.
The second grouping will be at the same location and time on August 28.
The finals will be at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano on October 9.
"The first two two preliminary events are run somewhat like music auditions," says Vinas. "Please know every aspect of your time will be judged and assessed by the panel. Bands need to show up by early as 3 p.m. and no later than 4 p.m. with their own guitar/bass/ and or cables for each. Drummers will be asked to only bring snare/ crash/ and pedals. There is a house kit, with PA and speakers to be provided by the event."
The top performers will play at the Coach House before a 500+ audience. Winners will receive recording and artistic development packages, performance dates at some great venues, local companies' gear, marketing packages, and bragging rights.
All net proceeds go to http://www.HopeForGavin.com, a charity supporting the only surviving child in San Diego County with Tay Sachs disease.
