Heads up for lovers of Latin jazz-- Tuesday, July 19, KSDS brings saxophonist Scott Martin and his Latin Soul Band to the Saville Theatre as the next installment of the Jazz Live concert series.
Martin's got six CD's out under his own name, but most people will know him from his 14 year tenure with the iconic congolero Pancho Sanchez's Latin Jazz Band, with whom he won a Grammy Award.
Martin plays all the horns, and he's especially adept on tenor, alto and flute, all of which he navigates with a fluid alacrity that emphasizes his jazz chops.
His group often adapts more pop-oriented songs in a Latin style, and as always, keeping a dance groove is an imperative.
The doors open at 7:30 p.m. or, you can hear the entire concert by tuning to 88.3 on your FM dial. It also streams at jazz88.org
