3 Nights During the Con at Soda Bar

Once you’ve exhausted yourself perusing Troma schwag and oggling slave Leia’s and Harajuku girls at Comic Con, head up to the Soda Bar for a three night extravaganza curated by Art Fag and Impose Magazine.

“The idea for the bands was to basically put together my dream line up,” writes Art Fag’s Mario Orduño via email. “These shows are influenced by the showcases I put together for CMJ and SXSW. I worked closely with Impose on those and at SXSW we got to talking about Comic Con weekend - simply because there are thousands of people in San Diego from all over the world.”

Highlights include:

Bleached (ex-Mika Miko) – This LA lo-fi rock and roll chic-trio-plus-dude will release a new 7" via Art Fag Recs on July 17.

Tearist – Los Angeles dark minimal experimental electronic duo who LA Weekly said “could very well be the most crucial musical project to come out of Los Angeles in recent years."

Sun Araw (ex-Magic Lantern) – Long Beach via Austin psychedelic beats. Willy Wonka, Tobacco, and Arzachel get together over doobies and mash-up the Napoleon Dynamite soundtrack.

Heavy Hawaii – San Diego’s own surf dreamers bring the beach to City Heights.
