"Fade Away," an original ballad from brooding indie rockers the Black Heart Procession, can now be heard on the ending credits of PlayStation 3's apocalyptic video game Infamous 2.
The song is Black Heart at their best, with piano, and an opening chant that leads into a crisp snare beat and singer Pall Jenkins's crestfallen croon: "Through this land of tragedy, I try to find my way and in this town of misery I search for you. Now we walk away to the last of the day..."
On June 15, Jenkins posted a message about the song on the band's Facebook page: "We were asked to write an original song for the ending of the new PS3 game called Infamous 2- which is a much talked about release in gamer circles. When someone reaches the end, this track called "Fade Away" plays. Enjoy."
In the weeks following Infamous 2's release date, gamers have signed on to the band's website and Facebook page to give compliments about the song and their music.
"I just discovered you guys by beating the game last night," commented one gamer. "I immediately went out and purchased "6" at the local record shop. Great stuff! I'll be crossing my fingers for a 7" single of "Fade Away."
