After the contretemps of 91X Wrex the Halls’ first night at the Valley View Casino Center, when ticket-holders were stuck in line trying to get into the pit, things moved more smoothly on Night 2.
After an opening set by New Orleans’ Mutemath, Everlast came on stage and set a gracious mood for the 9000 people in attendance. Props to 91X for including rapper DMC in the mix. He got down with some epic raps and a remix of Aerosmith's "Walk This Way."
The revolving stage allowed immediate change of bands, and Pennywise stormed the stage with some bro-heavy tunes and plenty of expletives. The pit came alive here, and North County band Switchfoot continued on with light effects and lead singer Jon Foreman ranging far and wide among the crowd. O.C. punkers Social D brought their hits to life and teased the crowd by saying that a Christmas carol would be their last song. It turned out to be Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire." A confident blink-182 was up to their usual gags and potty-mouthed banter but clearly the Christmas crowd adored these local bad boys!
There was an eclectic and entertaining mix of music for Night 2 of Wrex the Halls, and thankfully, the only lines I saw were for the bathrooms!
91X Wrex the Halls Night 2, with blink-182, Social Distortion, Switchfoot, and more
Date: December 11
