Timewave Zero Promises a Novel New Years Eve

If Mayan astrology, New Age paranoia, and visions reveled to philosopher Terence Mckenna in the Colombian Amazon on a massive dose of psychedelic mushrooms and ayahuasca are to be believed, exactly one year from today, on December 21, 2012, the world will end.

Or start over. Or transcend. Or something.

Regardless, thinkers from several sectors of space/time seem to believe that something monumental is about to happen, and I’m inclined to agree.

Take the Timewave Zero New Year’s Eve party at the Kava Lounge.

Named after the theory derived from McKenna’s said Amazonian adventure in which a divine voice instructed him to rearrange the King Wen sequence of the I Ching and thus chart a time wave of novelty which collapses into an infinite singularity on December 21, 2012 (at which point anything and everything imaginable will occur simultaneously), Timewave Zero is a collaboration of forward-thinking San Diego electronic bass music collective Liquid Geometry, Sublmnl Sound System, and Dataset Clothing.

"It’s really exciting to think about how far we’ve come in such a short time," says Liquid Geometry promoter Corey Howard.

"From the first Liquid Geometry shows we threw just a little over year ago, to now teaming up with Sublimnl and Dataset and offering a show of this caliber! I really consider this event to be a game changer for the San Diego bass culture. We all have worked incredibly hard to make sure this party delivers everything you could want for NYE and more. The line-up for both dance floors is stacked with so much talent and heat, the energy and vibe is going to be next level! The amount of booty shaking that will be going down is going to be straight up monumental! This is sure to be the New Year’s Eve party you can fondly remember as ‘the way to go out in style' if and when this 2012 doomsday business happens."

Bay Area behemoth Eprom headlines the 10 artist line-up with a manic mash up of mean bass and tripola beats to propel you directly into the strange attractor at the end (or beginning) of time.

Filling out the night will be local beat and bass wizards Austin Speed, CRMNL, EshOne (back from Albuquerque for this event), HM.T DM.T, Mastah Syphe, Mike Gao, Misk, Sleeve, and The Omega Squad (Brian Millar + Skandar).

VJs Miguex, Owns1, and Wind Spirit bring the eye candy.

"We are going to have something special to make it really pop off," says Miguel 'Miguex' Vega. "It's not just any night."

In addition to Kava Lounge’s exotic and organic mixed drinks, join in a free champagne toast when the bass, I mean, ball drops.

$20 pre-sale tickets are available online.

Doors open at 8.
