I told you a bit about bLUMPy aka The Beef Wellingtons aka Harley's Monster last month after catching them incidentally at Tori Roze’s Ruby Tuesdays night at the Ruby Room.
The free jazz trio combined wandering bass (multi-instrumentalist Harley Magsino is originally from the Philippines, has his Masters from SDSU, and used to play with Hectic Watermelon), stream-of-conscious keys (bUk FiDy is a “failed politician who has returned to music with a vengeance”), and spot-on traps (Isaac Crow is a San Diego native currently working on his Masters at SDSU) which often lapsed into volleys of electronic-style drum 'n bass and break beats.
I was absolutely blown away by these guys and foresee fine things for them in the future.
As such, go ahead and watch these recently uploaded videos from the Ruby Tuesday gig, and see if you can spot the nod to Nirvana amidst the madness.
