9 Beet Stretch. My friend asked if I'd heard of it after the Symphony concert of Beethoven's Ninth. I hadn't.
He explained that it is Beethoven's Ninth Symphony stretched out over a 24 hour period with no pitch distortion. He uses it from time to time for his yoga practice.
I checked it out. It is surreal, maybe like something from a Stanley Kubrick film.
The stream has been running online since May 7th, 2005.
When I opened it, it was somewhere in the middle. I could recognize some of the harmonies but it was tough to tell exactly what part of the symphony it was.
I'm not sure what to say about this "idea based" artwork.
As a concept, I really like it but must admit that I'm not sure how long I could actually listen to it. I can recognize the contemplative qualities it has.
