For starters, monthly Makeout Weird hosts nascent locals California Bleeding, a progy, schitzo, wiggle-ready duo featuring members of Alioth and Dead Animal Mod.
Makeout Weird curators Monsterpussy (Heather Brosche - Club Purple) and Freak Sauce (Bobby Bray – Innerds, the Locust, Holy Molar) will be smooshing sound as the amoebic aggregate alien DJ known by the ancient Anasazi as freakmonsterpussysauce.
Art by Leroy Davis and Colleen Marbles will be up until next month’s installation.
21+ and free @ Whistle Stop – South Park - 2236 Fern Street
Across town at the Kava Lounge, experimental future beat showcase Liquid Geometry Presents (formerly Galactic Reign) brings NguzuNguzu, who have worked with M.I.A. and recently toured with Gang Gang Dance and Total Freedom.
“[They’re] a duo out of L.A. that combines sounds like R&B, Tropical Bass, Cumbia, and Juke,” says Liquid G’s Theo Adams.
“We wanted to close the season out with a serious dance party. By all means, we love nodding our head to beats, but this incredible summer is coming to an end and that calls for a celebration. Keep your ear to the ground. We have some amazing stuff planned for the fall!”
Also aboard this rocket ship to the strange attractor at the end of time are:
Liquid Geometry sonic prankster HM.T DM.T
Nino Seneris of Critical Beatdown and My Dirty Drum Habits
P-Man, host of the weekly web broadcast “P-Man Show”
Sweet Cheeks pincher Mawkus, who hosts Jazz 88.3's world music show on Wednesday’s from midnight ‘til two.
and Mystery Cave playing powerfully out there beats like you’ve never heard. Take a listen. SRSLY.

$5 before 10 PM/ $7 after
Kava Lounge – Middletown - 2812 Kettner Blvd
For even more dance, head over to Ocean Beach, where latin reggae outfit Todo Mundo plays a free show. I recently ran into frontman Santiago Orozco and congratulated him on winning “best world music album” at the San Diego Music Awards. Keeping with the band's “whole world as one” outlook, he replied, “Thanks man. It’s your award too.”
Boogie down with Todo Mundo at Winston’s (1921 Bacon Street) and celebrate our collective accomplishment.
