Quasi Recordings Local Band Compilation

"Quasi Recordings is going to be launching a Kickstarter campaign on July 31 to raise money to press some limited editions of the latest Quasi EP, Picture Head," label head Matt Rhea tells the Reader.

Several locals have funded albums via donations obtained through Kickstarter.com. “You set the amount of money you need and choose how long to raise it. If you don’t raise that amount in time, you get none of the money, and people who pledge don’t get charged until the time is up. The money end is handled by Amazon.com."

Picture Head is a compilation featuring all-new tracks from several La Mesa bands on the neighborhood-based Quasi Recordings label. The first single, “American Mail” by Milt Ellison, was released earlier this year.

"The record will feature Milt Ellison, Manganista, No Reply, Ed the Word, Daughn Stombough, and Jason Thomas. The campaign will run for 60 days, and then we should have the record available in November."

"We managed to record, mix and master the songs, but we need help to truly bring the project to life. Our hope is that our friends, family and fans will fund the pressing of 300 limited edition Picture Head 10” records, in exchange for a copy of the record and other super cool rewards."

The goal is to raise $1,400 to press three hundred limited edition Picture Head 10-inch vinyl records. Pledges start as low as $10.

All pledges guarantee a copy of the Picture Head record, as well as a digital download of the album. The higher the pledge, the cooler the rewards. All money raised will go towards the cost to press the records, hand-make the packaging, and fulfill the backers’ rewards as detailed below.

"Once our goal of $1,400 is reached, Quasi will have the records pressed, rewards will be fulfilled and we’ll throw a free record release party in San Diego to celebrate. The album will be played live in its entirety by all of the Picture Head artists, and Manganista will close out the night with a full set. First Manga show in three years!"

Pledge Levels and Rewards:

Pledge $10 or more - You'll receive a copy of the Picture Head record and a digital download of album.

Pledge $15 or more - All the $10 rewards, plus a limited edition "I helped bring Picture Head to life" poster signed by all of the PH artists.

Pledge $20 or more - Make your record red. All $15 rewards, but your PH record will be one of the ultra-limited edition colored red vinyl records. Only 100 being made.

Pledge $30 or more - All $20 rewards, plus your name in the album credits on the outside of the record jacket.

Pledge $40 or more - All $30 rewards, plus a special handmade CD version of Picture Head with a super-secret bonus track of a Picture Head artist performing a song with Matt’s Omnichord. Each CD has a different bonus track.

Pledge $50 or more - All $40 rewards, plus we’ll do a “no frills” recording of your favorite 80s song and feature it on the next QR release, The Quasi Mix Tape Experiment. Details about this project coming soon…
