The sun finally dropped behind the hills as I set the old dinning room chair out in front of the apartment. The apartment is one of the last three remaining from the Jumba Hot Springs Hotel days that has the warm mineral water piped into the shower, Sorry I got a little side tracked. A single street light hangs on the corner of Jacumba street and Old Highway 80. The light attracts numerous swarms of bugs and the bats are flying in constant motion enjoying the snack. As the night sky filled up with stars each evening I've been able to watch the emergance from a tall palm tree a owl. Each night the owl flies out and then quicky turns into the cover of the surrounding cottonwood trees. A short time later just this one time tonight the owl flies to another spot on top of the old bathhouse building. Tonight you could see the two large horns on top of the owl as it was watching me below. It sat as though watching or standing guard over the area. What a wonderful sight to see such a large bird less than a 100 ft away. Ah!! Jacumba shares it beauty.
