I was somewhat surprised to hear Beethoven’s Waldstein Sonata on a commercial the other day.
I’ve no problem with commercials using classical music. Often times it creates a point of reference for those who are not completely into classical music.
The Waldstein Sonata isn't music that I ever expected to hear on the TV.
What most surprised me was that I had forgotten all about the Waldstein Sonata.
Count Waldstein was one of Beethoven’s early patrons. As such, Beethoven honored him with this composition.
Of the Beethoven Sonatas, the Waldstein isn’t as well known as the Pathetique, Appassionata, or Moonlight Sonata.
Waldstein was always one of my favorites but I completely forgot about it. That makes me wonder what other music I’ve forgotten.
