Mistaken Drive-By Leaves One Dead, One Injured
5900 Chateau Drive, Clairemont Mesa East March 18, 11: 10 p.m.
A citizen called police and reported there was a shooting. Responding officers found a male victim, Jose Antonio Beltran, 22, lying in the street and suffering from a gunshot wound.
Paramedics attempted life saving measures but Beltran died at approximately 11:30 p.m.
A second victim was located at a fire station, one block way from the scene. This second victim is a 16-year-old male and as transported to the hospital for treatment.
Apparently, this was a revenge drive-by shooting with unintended victims.
On Wednesday, March 19, Linda Vista gang related residents Raysheon Marquise Burton, 21, and Warren Hargrove, 20, were arrested for the drive-by shooting, which the District Attorney’s Office has stated may have been a mistaken identity.
Beltram is not a known gang member. Burton and Hargrove believed he had assaulted a fellow gang member that night, which Beltram did not.
Burton and Hargrove are being held on $1 milli0on bail for murder.
