A fight between 20 or 30 people at the Bahia Hotel during a St. Patrick’s Day party turned deadly when a gun was fired.
Donald White, 28, from El Cajon, was the victim of gunshot wounds. Paramedics were unable to save him and he died at the scene.
Police believe the fight was gang related, although they have stated that White was not in a gang. The fight began in a guest suite, then spilled out onto the parking lot.
Lt. Kevin Rooney of the SDPD Homicide Unit says detectives are trying to put events together to determine what happened and who shot the gun that killed White. They are asking that witnesses who fled the scene contact the SDPD and help with the case.
