Homicide Probe in Child's Suspicious Death
Kalun was only three-years-old.
4300 36th Sreet, Normal Heights December 30, 2:07 p.m. SDPD 32.75531, -117.115764
Officers and paramedics were dispatched to a residence in Normal Heights on a report of a non-breathing male child, later identified as three-year-old Kalun Mackabee.
Officers performed CPR and then were relieved by paramedics. Kalun was rushed to a local hospital. Paramedics gave the boy cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the way, but he died at 2:45 p.m., as reported by SDPD Homicide Detective Kevin Rooney.
The circumstances around Kalun’s demise are deemed “suspicious” in nature and is being investigated accordingly, as a homicide probe.
The Medical Examiner’s Office notes that toxicology reports aren't expected to be complete for 60 to 90 days.
